Biography

Lincoln Park — Informed by a shared culture with Italy’s legendary artists and designers, Pinto creates her looks with attention to detail, draping and structure that she learned as fashion icon Geoffrey Beene’s associate designer. Each season, from her Bucktown studio, Pinto marries European artisanal textiles with great American design.

She is the recipient of prestigious design awards including the Gold Coast Fashion Award that formerly honored Donna Karan, Bill Blass and Anne Klein. A fine arts graduate of The School of The Art Institute of Chicago, Pinto also studied at New York’s Parson’s School of Design and Fashion Institute of Technology.

Maria Pinto’s stunning women’s accessories collection debuted at Bergdorf Goodman in 1991, a discovery of then-president Dawn Mello. Since the launch of her elegant women’s accessories and ready-to-wear line, her designs have flattered women with cocktail and evening wear collections. Now, Pinto adapts the fabrics and styling of her evening wear and accessories collections for women’s daytime needs.
