Biography

Kira’s training in the world of fashion began early while attending Kenwood Academy High School and the Marwen Foundation where she studied art and design. Following high school, Kira matriculated at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia where she studied Fashion Design and Merchandising. In 1999 and 2005 Kira worked as Assistant Designer for Chicago Designer, Jermikko. She also worked as a Visual Merchandiser for a small Boutique Moda Soho in Atlanta, Georgia. She was awarded the opportunity to assist with The Essence Model Search and Nautica fashion shows as a backstage Dresser. Kira has received recognition and awards for her work in the field of fashion including, Best Designer of the Year 2001 from the Benefactors of Education, and Ralph Lauren Meets Duck Tape Contest.

Kira’s clothing line, Mikira Designs combines retro classic with contemporary casual, formal and sportswear to create a line that is classy, vibrant and uniquely captivating.

Kira recently started a nonprofit organization called Mikira’s Closet. Her organization’s objective is to help young girls of color develop their design and entrepreneurship skills at an early age. These young ladies range from age of seven to thirteen years old. Kira is molding these future Fashion Designers, Fashion Models, Fashion Merchandisers, and so much more to become Fashion Leaders of tomorrow.
