Lindsey Boland

Superficial Inc. Habit

Biography

Wicker Park — Superficial Inc. began in 1998 when designer, Lindsey Boland, brought her first batch of home-made whimsical sundresses to Zoe, the hippest boutique in Tucson, AZ. Lindsey had already been designing and making unique clothing for herself (and lucky friends) for some time. When all the dresses sold out lickety-split, Lindsey knew she was on to something. After a short stint at Parson’s School of Design on a merit scholarship, Lindsey began interning with several New York designers including, Cynthia Rowley, ROBERT DANES AND JAMES COVIELLO. Simultaneously she worked on building her own company. In March of 2000 superficial was incorporated. It has since been providing beautiful, often one-of-a-kind clothing to women throughout the U.S.

SUPERFICIAL IS NOW BASED IN CHICAGO where Lindsey also runs habit, a boutique featuring 50+ emerging designers like herself. The Superficial studio is nestled in the back of the store and is constantly churning out Lindsey’s whimsical designs.

in 2006 superficial designed the uniforms for Douglas Rodriguez’s restaurant de la Costa, which is located in the river arts building in Chicago. The restaurant opened in September with the staff wearing dramatic white hostess blouses, modern, edgy tops for the bartenders and waitresses and sexy a bustier for the cocktail servers.

Superficial’s goal is to provide women with clothing that expresses their individuality, playfulness, and artistic vision. We want to be your favorite piece in the closet!
