Elda de la Rosa

Biography

Elda De La Rosa is well known in Chicago for her beautiful handmade creations. She personally works with each client from first sketches to fabric selection, muslin and fitting process to the final customized garment. Elda creates elegant outfits for all occasions, specializing in Evening, Bridal and Commitment Ceremony ensembles.

For many years Elda freelanced as a fashion illustrator, jewelry designer, and seamstress for many national magazine ads and TV commercials – all while working on her own dress designs at home. Confidence in her abilities and a strong local following enabled her to open her first design studio in 1996. Her Bridal Collection was an instant hit, and with that, the business blossomed. In 2000 Elda decided to expand her studio into a larger atelier space located in the Andersonville neighborhood.

The Big Move. Elda has recently moved her design studio into the historic (and very pink) Edgewater Beach Hotel complex off of Lake Shore Drive. The move has been an energizing and inspiring experience for Elda, and this upbeat mood is reflected in all that she creates. The elegant building was built in the 1930’s and is the largest pale pink building in all of Chicago – a perfect place for Elda and her dresses.

The new space reflects Elda’s sensibility–a wonderful mixture of old and new. Just like her designs, modern lines with subtle vintage details. Walk into the space and you’ll see antique dress-forms dressed up in Elda’s newest creations. Beautiful evening wraps, lacy veils and necklaces adorn the space along side of the oceans of luxurious silk, lace and beaded couture gowns – all of course, created by Elda.
