Kristin Mariani Frieman

Biography

River North — Kristin Mariani Frieman is a Chicago based dressmaker, designer and artist. In the year 2000 she founded RedShift, a line of one-of-a-kind clothing created from salvaged materials and found garments. She is a graduate of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she received numerous awards for her innovative designs. She has five years of professional experience as a clothing and textile designer in Milan and New York.

Her design practice has been described in New City as work “that elevates the unique and the unrepeatable, and openly acknowledges a connection to the material world of production and consumption.” As an independent designer she collaborates with artists from other disciplines, creating garments for dance, performance, and installation.
