Biography

Ukranian Village — Squasht by Les is an independent clothing and accessories company, specializing in subtly sophisticated women’s ready-to-wear. Squasht is best known for their signature reversible handmade hats and endlessly wearable vintage-modern style dresses. Squasht by Les designer Lesley Timpe was trained in Spain’s Maestro Mateo Design School and brings a European vibe to her seasonal collection of dresses, skirts, tops, tunics, headbands, handbags and reversible hats. The entirety of the collection is locally and professionally hand-crafted in Chicago. Lesley’s preferred fabrics to work with are organic soy-cotton, vintage pima cotton in 1980s prints, vintage velveteen, imported Italian wool, and silk tweed.

After five years of being in business and being carried in more than 30 boutiques nationwide, Squasht by Les is opening its own storefront in the Ukranian Village of Chicago in May 2010. The new flagship Squasht by Les boutique will carry the entire Squasht collection as well as a selection of independent designer wares from around the nation.
