The Modahnik Spring Summer 2010 collection presentation will be held at the gallery space located at 72 E. Randolph Street, in Chicago IL, on Saturday, October 24, 2009.

Kahindo Mateene, the Designer behind Modahnik believes its sexy aesthetic that is designed to accentuate a woman’s body, is heavily influenced by the “Mad Men” style of the 60s with a modern twist. As noted in another local Chicago publication, “[Modahnik] aspires to break out of traditional silhouettes and create more stylish wear for women – using African prints and a design aesthetic strongly influenced by her African roots.

A socially conscious clothing line, Modahnik aims to ethically produce clothing in Africa using fair trade practices with an ultimate goal of creating sustainable jobs while alleviating poverty and empowering underprivileged women.

The Spring/Summer 2010 collection will feature dresses and separates that pay tribute to the curves of the female body and give a modern unexpected twist to classic styles using bright vibrant African prints and colors. The African landscape is the inspiration behind Kahindo’s debut collection.
